Wonyi Digital Skills & Career Accelerators

Developing Career Accelerators to prepare West African learners to be an integral part of the global digital industry through sustainable employment.

Mission & Objective

Wonyi’s mission is to create self-sustaining ecosystems for West Africans in both West Africa and its diaspora communities for inclusive and sustainable growth. We bridge the “education-to-employment” gap by prioritizing high-demand job skills and career readiness. Our cohort-based accelerators are designed to give high-potential young professionals the resources and education needed to expedite their growth in specific West African markets.

Need Statement: The Digital Disconnect

Africa’s challenge is to ensure that economic growth translates into stable, wage-paying jobs. Current data highlights a seismic shift in the labor market that requires immediate intervention:

The Graduate Paradox

The AfDB 2025 African Economic Outlook identifies a critical mismatch where college graduates often face higher unemployment than those with primary education because traditional curricula remain overly theoretical.

The Jobless Recovery

While West Africa’s youth population is the largest in the world, the World Bank notes that 60% of West Africa’s youth are currently jobless.

Skill Obsolescence

The World Economic Forum (WEF) Future of Jobs Report 2025 projects that 44% of workers’ core skills will be disrupted by 2030 due to AI and digital transformation.

The $180B Opportunity

Despite these challenges, Africa’s internet economy is projected to reach $180 billion by 2025. Wonyi aims to ensure West Africans are the primary beneficiaries of this growth.

To achieve socioeconomic mobility, Wonyi employs a four-stage process: Educate → Empower → Excel → Evolve.
